East Kent celebrates royal wedding

Following the royal wedding, many continued with the celebrations. But how did Kent's residents celebrate? East Kent News found out more

Street parties were the most common means of celebration. After all, Kent has been confirmed as having the biggest amount of official street parties in the UK. In total, 54 were given the official go ahead which is substantially more than second place Cambridgeshire who have 32 official street parties planned.

Sarah Hamilton, who works with the Whitstable Sea Cadets, decided to throw a street party in Middle Wall outside where the Sea Cadets are based. "Street parties are a great way celebrate. Enjoying the sun, celebrating with family and friends. Its been a lovely afternoon."

It was also a good day for restaurants in the area, who were packed with celebrating customers throughout the day. Jamie Parsons, who works in the kitchens at the Duke of Cumberland said, "Yeah we've been really busy today. There's been a great atmosphere around the place, everyones happy and having a good time"
