Bank holiday is big business for Whitstable

Tourists have arrived to the seaside town of Whitstable in huge numbers to enjoy the delights of a luxurious four day bank holiday weekend in what is likely to prove a very profitable

Visitors came down from all over the country to sample the towns unique atmosphere as temperatures soared. Debbie Atwood, a waitress at cafe 'Olivia's', said "We've been as busy as we've ever been this weekend. Bank holidays are so good for business."

Ian Davis, a 36 year old ice cream salesman, had similar thoughts "When all the tourists flock down and the weather is as good as this, business is always booming, especially with there being two bank holidays in quick succession."

Weather in the East Kent area reached highs of 25 degrees and fingers will be crossed for next weekend when the royal wedding takes place.
